What it means
After titration, most people settle on a dose they continue week after week. For some GLP-1 medicines the label lists more than one maintenance option. Zepbound, for example, lists 5 mg, 10 mg and 15 mg as maintenance doses for weight management.
Clinical trials report weight loss by maintenance dose, and higher doses were linked to more weight loss on average. Higher doses can also bring more stomach side effects, so the right dose is a balance your prescriber helps you find.
A maintenance dose is not a finish line. The labels describe these medicines as long-term treatment, and trials found that many people regained weight after stopping.
Insurers sometimes set rules on which dose they cover or how many pens a month, so check your plan's quantity limits before your prescriber moves you to a new step.
Why it matters
Projections on Sunny Weigh are keyed to the maintenance dose, because that is how the trials report results.
