Medical review

How we review every health page

On a medicine site, trust is the product. Here is the exact process each health page goes through and what its review label means.

Updated

Five steps before a page goes live

  1. Draft from primary sources only. FDA prescribing information on DailyMed, FDA announcements, peer-reviewed trial papers and manufacturer pricing pages. No facts copied from other blogs.
  2. Fact-check every number. Each figure is matched to its source and the source is linked on the page.
  3. Clinician sign-off. A licensed MD, DO or PharmD reviews drug pages; a registered dietitian reviews nutrition tools. The sign-off is logged with a date.
  4. Publish with credit. The page shows "Medically reviewed by [name], [date]" and a sources list.
  5. Schedule the next check. Each page gets a re-check date on our content calendar.

What "Clinician review pending" means

Sunny Weigh is pre-launch. Our health pages have been drafted from primary sources and fact-checked, but a licensed clinician has not yet signed them off. Those pages show a Clinician review pending label.

When a reviewer approves a page, the label changes to their name and the review date. If a reviewer asks for changes, we make them before the label changes.

Who reviews our pages

  • Drug pages: a physician (MD or DO) or a clinical pharmacist (PharmD) with a current US license.
  • Nutrition and calorie tools: a registered dietitian (RD or RDN).
  • Each reviewer is named with credentials, license state and a short bio.
  • Reviewers have no financial ties to the drug makers whose medicines they review, and they disclose any conflicts.

Formulas get reviewed too

A wrong calculation can hurt someone, so calculator formulas follow the same rules. Every formula is named on the page, any change goes back to a reviewer, and we keep a version log of what changed and when.
