How to use it

  1. Step 1Pick your medicine.
  2. Step 2Say whether your insurance plan covers it, or that you're not sure.
  3. Step 3Compare monthly and yearly cost across list price, self-pay and savings options.

What each price means

  • List price: the maker's price before insurance. Few people pay it, but it drives deductibles and coinsurance.
  • Self-pay: cash programs run by the maker, often for vials or tablets through their own pharmacy, with a prescription.
  • Savings card: lowers your copay if your commercial plan covers the drug. Caps and terms apply, and they usually can't be used with Medicare or Medicaid.

Yearly list cost uses 13 four-week fills; self-pay uses 12 monthly fills.

How current the prices are

GLP-1 prices change often. Each price shows when we compiled it, and we re-check monthly. Confirm on the maker's site before you buy. The full table is in the GLP-1 cost index.

We never list or rank compounded-drug sellers. See Compounded GLP-1s for their legal status.

Common questions

Why is Zepbound cheaper as a vial?

The maker sells single-dose vials through its own pharmacy at self-pay prices, separate from insurance pricing for pens.

Can I use a savings card with Medicare?

Manufacturer savings cards generally can't be used with Medicare, Medicaid or other government insurance.

Does insurance cover GLP-1s for weight loss?

It depends on your plan. Many employer plans exclude weight-loss medicines, and covered plans usually need prior authorization.

Can I use HSA or FSA money for a GLP-1?

Prescription medicines are generally eligible expenses. See our HSA and FSA guide for details.
