Get matched in California

Takes about a minute. We only use this to make the introduction you ask for.

Sunny Weigh doesn't prescribe or provide medical care, and submitting doesn't create a doctor-patient relationship. A clinician decides whether any treatment is right for you. We may be compensated for introductions; that never changes our content or calculators.

Weight and health in California

CDC didn't publish a 2025 adult obesity estimate for California because the survey sample was too small to be reliable that year.

About 11.5% of adults in California have diagnosed diabetes (2023 data).

Your own numbers matter more than any state average: try the BMI and GLP-1 eligibility calculator.

Does California Medicaid cover GLP-1s for weight loss?

Not covered for obesity: Stopped covering GLP-1s for weight loss for adults on January 1, 2026; they are still covered for type 2 diabetes.

Medi-Cal is run by California Department of Health Care Services. Official site: California Department of Health Care Services.

Medicaid rules change often, sometimes mid-year. Confirm with your plan or a clinician before you rely on this. Status as of 2025-10 (source). Private plans and Medicare follow different rules: see Medicaid and GLP-1s and Medicare and GLP-1s.

How to verify a clinician's license in California

Any clinician who treats you in California, including by video, needs an active license there. You can check it yourself with the Medical Board of California using its license lookup.

Look for an active status and no public disciplinary actions, and make sure the name matches the clinician you'll see.

If your insurer says no in California

If a health plan denies a GLP-1, you usually have the right to an internal appeal and then an independent external review. The California Department of Insurance oversees state-regulated plans and helps consumers with complaints and appeals (consumer line: 1-800-927-4357).

Employer plans that are self-funded follow federal rules instead; your plan documents say which applies. Our prior authorization guide includes an appeal letter outline.

How it works

  1. Tell us where you liveYour state decides which clinicians can legally care for you, including by video.
  2. We make the introductionIf you agree, we pass your request to a licensed clinician or practice in your state.
  3. They reach outUsually by your preferred method. You talk through goals, history, coverage and cost.
  4. You decideThere's no obligation. A clinician decides whether any medicine is right for you.

Why your state matters

Clinicians need a license in the state where you are when you're seen, including for video visits. That's why we ask where you live first and only introduce you to clinicians licensed in California.

Coverage rules for weight-loss medicine also vary: employer plans, Medicare and Medicaid all differ. Read how prior authorization works and Medicaid and GLP-1s before you talk.

Before you talk

  • Know your numbers: BMI and TDEE.
  • List your medicines and conditions, especially thyroid history, pancreatitis and pregnancy plans.
  • Check your plan's drug list for Zepbound or Wegovy.
  • Compare self-pay prices in the cost index.
